Brides Against Breast Cancer (BABC) is a nationally recognized affiliate of the Center for Building Hope, whose fundraising efforts contribute to programs offering support to cancer patients and their families.
Their outreach and educational efforts during their "Nationwide Tour of Gowns" bridal shows around the country help ensure that people impacted by cancer have the resources and information they need in their battle with cancer. These events showcase bridal gowns donated by brides throughout the country, as well as dresses donated directly from designers and manufacturers.
The shows offer gently worn and brand new gowns in an array of designs and sizes, at an average cost of $600. The shows provide brides the opportunity to purchase gorgeous gowns, both brand name and couture, at discounted prices ranging from $99-$3900. These purchases then directly support a cause that benefits the lives of people affected by breast cancer.
Among other things, their website provides personal stories from brides who purchased gowns through the "Nationwide Tour of Gowns" events. These stories recount numerous positive experiences from the brides and their entourages. Beyond the joy of finding their wedding gowns, many of the brides expressed how wonderful it felt to give to such a meaningful organization.
The BABC’s Pink Envelope Project is also outlined on the site. Any personal fundraiser centered around an event, gathering, party, activity, or club can qualify. BABC, which was founded 15 years ago, says they will contribute $2 million dollars this year to help those impacted by cancer. Among the numerous free programs supported are children's programs and breast cancer support groups, as well as exercise and nutrition classes.
