Romancing You: Intimacy After Breast Cancer

There's a complex combination of emotions that come with a breast cancer diagnosis, its subsequent surgeries and treatments -- and those emotions get especially difficult when it comes to sexual intimacy. Losing a breast can play havoc with a woman's feelings of attractiveness and femininity. Indeed, sexual problems have been linked to mastectomy more frequently than to any other cancer treatment. Quite often the woman's partner, too, suffers from insecurity and concern about how to approach intimacy. If she's single, she may worry that no one will accept her "damaged" body. Readers frequently request articles on this topic, so our Intimacy and Sex section has been updated with new information, more links and additional resources.
