Groundhog Day

It's Groundhog Day!!

We know it isn’t the most celebrated holiday on the globe, but if you’ve seen the film you’ll know that Groundhog Day can feel a bit like déjà vu - waking up each morning to seemingly the same events being played out, just as they were the day before. Every morning the same song… every "Hello" to the same people… until you feel like an upside-down reflection of the true you (or… until you feel like you’re stuck in a time warp or an endlessly revolving door!)

Luckily, there is a happy ending to this story (I do like happy endings!). Ok, so it’s not real and movies rarely are, but if you feel as though things are out of your control or if you simply want to move on from a bad situation, there are some things you could try to help make that shift.

Focus on today

“Don’t look back, you’re not going that way!” The past is in the past and you can’t change it. What could you do today to make something just a little bit better for you?

Try something new

Step out of your comfort zone, even if it’s just a little, and do something you haven’t done before – try a different route to work, a new recipe or a dance class. It doesn’t have to be something big, just new to you.

Live by your values

What do you believe in? What’s important to you? Do you enjoy being with your family but work takes you away from them? Do you work in sales but are not competitive? When the things you do match your values you are more likely to feel content and satisfied.

Make time for you

You are important so treat yourself every once in a while! Whether that’s coffee and cake with a friend, a new book or a bubble bath with candles and a box of chocs. You deserve it, and more.

Note: Groundhog Day is on February 2nd
