Breast cancer campaign - is backed by tens of thousands

breast cancer stories Amoena - Breast Cancer Awareness Pink October

Tens of thousands of women visit TheDayIWasTold.com to read and share stories about their experience with breast cancer. The website provides women diagnosed with breast cancer with a platform where they can find advice, support and guidance and share their experiences and reflections of living with the disease.

"I am overwhelmed by the great interest in this initiative from the high volume of traffic to the website and engagement on Facebook and other social media," says Lene Ploug Bülow, CEO of Amoena, the world's leading producer of breast prostheses and originator of TheDayIWasTold.com.

"Amoena understands the struggle many women face when diagnosed with breast cancer. Our goal is to help eradicate the loneliness they feel and the taboos surrounding the diagnosis. We are thrilled by the level of interest and support for this initiative," Bülow says.

Amoena partnered with women around the globe to share their own stories on the site to inspire others and encourage them to share their own experiences. One of these ambassadors is Della Oguenleye.

"The day I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I did not know how to tell my friends and family about it. I could not bring myself to tell them the whole truth. I would have really appreciated having the opportunity to find support and inspiration from women who have been through the same," says Oguenleye.

She hopes that her story will help others understand that they can get through treatment and continue to live an active, full and happy life.

Bülow encourages all women and families to continue supporting the campaign, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness month in October.

"It is our hope that women affected by the disease will find support from the website and use the hashtags, #SupportingConfidence and #TheDayIWasTold, to freely and openly talk about breast cancer," she says.
