Hello and thank you for your message. The Valletta tops go with dress sizes. I am guessing a 40C would be a size 12. They are made a bit snug, so to ensure support, but A-line so it's comfortable on the waist area.
I suggest you visit a shop that sells Amoena near you. Most do carry Valletta's.
