Atlanta, GA – October 1, 2010 –- Amoena USA Corporation, the worldwide leader in breast care products, is the title sponsor for the Tour de Pink charity cycling event, hosted by the Atlanta affiliate of the Young Survival Coalition (YSC). This is the second year of the race and Amoena’s sponsorship. The charitable ride takes place Saturday, Oct.16, starting at Perimeter Mall in Atlanta. The event offers routes in length from one to 100 miles and raises funds for young breast cancer survivor support, education and awareness with an additional bonus— the opportunity for donors and participants to win a MINI Cooper.

“Last year’s event was a great success. We’re proud to serve as the title sponsor of Tour de Pink once again this year,” said Malissa Magyar, Marketing Manager, Amoena USA. “We share the same goal of helping women regain their dignity and positive self-image during their journey toward wellness, and we are happy to celebrate survivorship and support this worthwhile cause for a second year.”

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women behind lung cancer. It is estimated that 11,000 women under 40 are diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S. every year. In fact, there are more than 250,000 women living in the U.S. who were diagnosed with breast cancer under age 40. Unlike their post-menopausal counterparts, young women diagnosed with breast cancer face higher mortality rates, fertility issues and the possibility and ramifications of early menopause.

“The Atlanta affiliate of YSC is honored to have Amoena’s support once again,” said Courtney Bugler, Executive Director, YSC Atlanta.  “We are looking forward to another successful event celebrating these amazing women while raising much needed funds to benefit young survivors. We are delighted to have the continued support of an organization like Amoena that shares our purpose.”

As title sponsor, Amoena will be on-site at the Community Expo with samples from its industry-leading portfolio of breast forms, partial symmetry shapers, specialty textiles, swimwear and accessories. The company also has formed Team Amoena consisting of Amoena employees and family members who will ride in support of the cause Oct. 16.

Win a car. Bid on art. Support the cause.

In addition to raising awareness and funds, this year, participants and donors may register to win a MINI Cooper courtesy of Global MINI. For every $50 donated, donors earn one chance to win the car. YSC will announce the winner on the morning of the ride.

Race participants, spectators and people attending the Expo can also bid on survivor Bonnie Carter’s artwork that inspired the 2010 Amoena survivor pin Hope Dawns. After her diagnosis with breast cancer in 1991, the artist picked up acrylic painting and began painting in “a completely different way.” Carter’s work reflects her love of life and is inspired by her travels and experiences. Amoena is sponsoring a silent auction of Carter’s Hope Dawns print. Proceeds will benefit YSC.
