Praise Is The Cure Weekend October 3-4, 2009
A Cancer Awareness Event Promoting Hope, Health and Healing

ATLANTA, GA – September 23, 2009 – Amoena is pleased to be participating in Philadelphia, PA’s Praise is the Cure weekend October 3rd and 4th.

Praise Is The Cure (www.theanitatconnerstory.com) is a non-profit organization that motivates, educates and encourages African-American women to get screened and properly treated for breast cancer.

The weekend event will reach thousands of African-American breast cancer survivors in the Philadelphia area. Amoena representatives will be available at the Health Fair and Survivor’s Pampering Party distributing information about the company and their products. In addition, Amoena will be auctioning a cabin on the Breast Cancer Survivors Cruise. Saturday’s events culminate with the Gospel Musical Extravaganza, featuring Byron Cage, Lonnie Hunter and The Brockington Ensemble.

The 4th Annual Praise Is The Cure Sunday takes place Oct. 4. Churches across Philadelphia will participate in the citywide awareness effort by distributing education materials, encouraging women to manage their health and understand the importance of early detection.

Although the incidence of breast cancer in African-American women is lower than Caucasian women, the death rate is higher according to a study conducted by the National Cancer Institute. Early detection is critical. All women should be aware of treatment options and resources to aid in recovery.

Amoena understands the struggles that women face after breast surgery - and hopes to educate women on available post-operative products, from breast forms to proper fitting bras. Amoena’s goal is to help breast cancer survivors restore their positive self image and return to a life to normalcy.

Amoena has pledged to identify and provide breast care products to underserved and underinsured women. The company firmly believes that no woman—regardless of her race, socio-economic group or ability to pay—should be denied the opportunity for complete recovery following breast cancer surgery.
