Following a mastectomy at the age of 37, fashion buyer Kate opened a lingerie shop, Betty and Belle, in Altrincham, Cheshire, with her friend, lingerie designer Geraldine. Their aim was to specialise in serving the needs of women who want a professional bra fitting service, and they stock a wide range of mastectomy, DD+ bras and bridal lingerie.  Now with a burgeoning online business, too, Betty and Belle was shortlisted for the 2010 Best Female-led Business in the Northwest and was a semi-finalist in the Barclays Trading Places Awards 2009.
