We’re now into our sixth year of using ‘real life’ models in our catalogue and magazine, and we know from enthusiastic customer feedback how much you appreciate seeing women just like you looking great in our collections. Our photo shoots are always great fun, which is probably why we get such fabulous photos – not to mention, of course, the hard work and commitment of our gorgeous girls! After the last shoot, we talked to three of our models, Maria, Sarah and Anna about why modelling for Amoena is so important to them.
Maria, 56, first modelled for Amoena back in 2005 and came back to show off her svelte figure and sharp new hairstyle at our latest shoot. She had a mastectomy in 2004 following a diagnosis that resulted from her first routine mammogram, just before her 50th birthday. Determined to stay positive and remain fit and active, modelling for Amoena is part of Maria’s commitment to helping other women like her believe there’s life after breast cancer. “I contacted Amoena when I got out of hospital and within a year of my surgery I modelled at my first Amoena photo shoot.”

Sarah, 40, is new to modelling. Her husband prompted her to contact Amoena after seeing how great she looked in her post-surgery holiday snaps. With her 40th birthday approaching, Sarah thought she would ‘go for it’. “The experience itself completely exceeded my expectations. I felt like a celebrity for a day – very well looked after and completely pampered. I think that somebody picking up Amoena Life for the first time would be relieved to see that there are survivors out there who have gone full circle and feel confident again, and that the models they are seeing are real people who have confronted the illness themselves.”

Anna, 40, is the current ‘face’ of Amoena in the UK. She headed up the company’s 2010 marketing and PR campaign, appearing in national, regional and trade press, and has modelled for Amoena for the past two years. Diagnosed at just 34, Anna, who now lives with her fiancé Richard and her two sons, had a right mastectomy and reconstruction. “Although my reconstruction means I can wear any lingerie I like, I still love Amoena’s bras because they’re really comfortable. I love modelling for Amoena because it means I can show other women that you can still feel good about yourself and look good, too, even after major surgery.”
